Word of mouth

Today everything seems disingenuous

Disingenuine

People I love are hiding behind foul things

And rotten words

My friend is a coward and I despise him

My lover has forgotten and so have I the meanings of transparency

Words of kindness turn my stomach and little worries seem futile and lame

“Ah I see” points out the thread at the end of the line

You’re coming undone, unopened

Your liver is black and your fingers are dead

“Ah there it was” sighs the nail threatening the skin

The blemish is real it is beneath the screen

The bacteria have spread from the inside and attacked the eyes, and licked the nose

“There’s the word” softly wails the hair coming out of the throat

You haven’t opened your mouth in days

The linings are wasting away, the membranes are decaying by day

When will you speak when will you say

It is I who has not looked anyone in the eye

It is I whom I blame

I am the poor victim

and the perpetrator
